Public libraries offer a perfect community-based location for providing equal access to a broad range of culturally and age appropriate hands-on maker activities. They showcase a range of program implementation models from dedicated spaces, to mobile carts to pop-up programs. Even with limited resources, public libraries are reaching outside their walls to develop partnerships and create sustainable maker programming that uniquely reflects the local community.

Attend this panel to hear from California public library staff who are reaching to under-resourced communities with creative maker programming - from young children to senior citizens. Hear how they started by listening to their patron’s interests, skills and needs before designing and developing their programs with the help and support of community stakeholder organizations.
